Later this month, the City of Cudahy’s Plan Commission will consider the company's proposed plan.
According to a report published by the Milwaukee Business Journal, Bill Otis, Cudahy’s president and COO said the addition would be built east of the company’s existing buildings and that this would be the second addition since the fire.
The building will facilitate fresh bacon slicing and packaging to replace its older operations. It will modernize the product, Otis said.
"It's something that is needed for the long term," he said in the report. "It's intended to stabilize employment."
Construction is expected to start in the coming months and the project is scheduled to be complete and operations to start in the fourth quarter of 2015, Otis said.
