WASHINGTON – Turkey eggs in incubators on Feb. 1 were down 4 percent to 26.8 million, the US Department of Agriculture's National Agricultural Statistics Service reported. Eggs in incubators on declined 2 percent compared to eggs placed on Jan. 1.

Turkey poults hatched in January were down 3 percent from a year ago to total 23.4 million, but gained 6 percent compared to the December 2013 total of 22.0 million poults, according to NASS.


Net poults placed during January totaled 22.4 million, a decline of 5 percent from the number of poults placed in the comparable year ago period, NASS reported. Net placements increased 6 percent from the December 2013 total of 21.1 million.
