Coleman Natural Foods now includes non-GMO verification labels on its organic poultry products

ANAHEIM, Calif. — Coleman Natural Foods is enhancing its commitment to providing consumers non-GMO choices with new Non-GMO Project Verification labels for its organic line of poultry products. Rosie organic and Draper Valley Farms organic products now carry this verification to make it easier for those who do not prefer to eat food produced with GMOs.

“We want to make it easier for our customers to identify GMO-free products, while giving them an added level of trust,” said Brian Edelmann, Coleman Natural Foods’ brand director. “The new third-party verification label assures them that our supply chain – including our feed ingredients – meets not only the requirements for USDA Organic, but also the added verification of the non-GMO Project. It also shows that we share the project’s commitment to increasing the availability of non-GMO products.”

Coleman Natural sells the Rosie Organic brand in Northern California and the Draper Valley Farms Organic brand in Oregon and Washington. Rosie Organic and Draper Valley Farms Organic chicken packaging with the new labels were delivered to stores in January.

“Non-GMO is a key attribute in the organic and natural foods segment, but it wasn’t until 2013 that the USDA approved the Non-GMO Project Verification label for meat, allowing us to move forward with the change,” Edelmann said. “We’ve long felt this was the right thing to do for our customers and consumers.” Currently, the non-GMO project is the only organization certified to provide third-party non-GMO verification.
