The company addressed the problem after receiving a customer complaint about incorrectly labeled product, according to FSIS. The customer noticed that the chicken breast strips were seasoned. However, the product was labeled as boneless, skinless breast pieces. A company investigation revealed the mislabeling occurred when the George's label was mistakenly applied to products nearby that contained allergens.
Affected products bear the label:
• 40-lb. bulk cartons of “GEORGE’S BONELESS SKINLESS BREAST PIECES W/RIB MEAT” with case code 4790.
The chicken products were produced and packaged from Dec. 21 through Dec. 23, 2013, and were sold to distributors in Tennessee and Iowa for further distribution. The recalled products bear the establishment number “P-13584” below the USDA Mark of Inspection and “Packed on” date in the format of “mm/dd/yy” on the carton label.
