Police and Walmart launched an investigation when a family of four was hospitalized after eating meat tainted with the hallucinogen. The store reviewed surveillance tapes to determine if the contamination happened at the store but no obvious signs of tampering were found, according to news reports.
Jessica Rosado, who was nine months pregnant, fell ill shortly after her husband, Ronnie Morales became sick after eating the meat. Their two daughters, ages 6 and 7, also reported experiencing hallucinations. News reports stated doctors induced labor on Rosado; the baby boy was healthy. The family was later released from the hospital.
In a statement, Walmart said: “We have been in touch with our supplier and they tell us they have no reports of similar incidents. We are also reviewing our store’s surveillance video to see if we can find any information that might assist in the investigation. At this point, we’re not aware of any suspicious activity.”
