NAMA is considering changing the group's articles of incorporation to reflect "North American Meat Institute" as the name of the merged association as well as to approve any related filings to implement the merger. Only general members were entitled to vote.
NAMA's board approved the merger on March 22. In April, AMI members and the board voted to proceed with the merger.
Discussions about the merger began in September 2013. A committee comprised of members representing each trade group was formed to discuss how a merger could best serve members. NAMA was formed with the merger of the National Meat Association and the North American Meat Processors Association.
