SHEBOYGAN FALLS, Wis. – Biscuits and gravy traditionally is a hearty meal enjoyed at a kitchen table. But Johnsonville has developed a new hand-held sandwich that gives time-starved consumers their biscuits and gravy, too.

The company's Sausage & Gravy Stuffed Biscuits represent an opportunity for foodservice operators to boost early and late afternoon sales, prime times for snacking. With nearly two-thirds of consumers saying they buy snacks at convenience stores, Johnsonville placed particular emphasis aligning the biscuits with consumer demands for convenience and portability.

The hand-held sandwiches are individually packed are ready to heat straight out of the refrigerator, according to the company. Johnsonville also has branded warmers, which maintains product tenderness for up to four hours. Merchandising materials to drive trial also are available, the company noted.
