The company's Porcine Epidemic Diarrhea Virus (PEDv) Vaccine, RNA uses its SirraVax RNA Particle Technology. Harrisvaccines products have been used by livestock producers since early 2012 for swine diseases such as Swine Influenza, Rotavirus, Clostridium and Swine Dysentery.
"Using our unique rapid-response production methods, we were able to create a vaccine in a matter of weeks after the outbreak," said Joel Harris, head of sales and marketing for Harrisvaccines. "Since late 2013, we have sold nearly 2 million doses of this vaccine through veterinary prescription and we are now thrilled to say it has been granted a USDA conditional license."
PEDv has killed approximately eight-million pigs, and the virus has spread to herds in 30 states since its discovery in the US in May 2013.
