Skymap Games' Bacon Man stands ready to battle foes with his trusty toaster gun. |
METHUEN, Mass. – Move over Marvel, there's a new avenger in town.
Skymap Games has developed a 3D role-playing game (RPG) that transforms bacon into an action anti-hero — Bacon Man. All is not well in the land of Nomround. Old King Roast Beef has been murdered, and his grandson, Bacon Man, has been framed by the Food Kings. Now, Bacon Man must clear his name.
"Bacon is the All-American symbol of love," according to Skymap's Kickstarter page. "With the passion for mechanically separated pork and guns, there is nothing more fitting than Bacon in a red, white and blue suit."
Gamers entering the Nomround universe will battle a host of evil villains such as Pork King, Excaliboar and Shrimp Valkyrie. Bacon Man also features multiplayer capability, puzzles and plenty of action.
The Bacon Man concept is the brainchild of college friends who formed Skymap Games, a Massachusetts-based video game design and development company. The first incarnation of the game came in 2011 as Flash game. Over time, Bacon Man has evolved from 2D to 3D.
The creators of Bacon Man have launched a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter in hopes of raising money to continue developing the game. The campaign has netted $4,766 of its $20,000 budget goal with 28 days left in the campaign.
