FSIS discovered the problem during an ongoing investigation into the company. The products were sold primarily over the Internet. Jerky By Art packed the jerky in 4-oz. bags, but the products may also have been packed in bags of other sizes. FSIS noted that there are no identifying dates or codes on any packaging. In addition, the jerky products contain wheat and anchovies, known allergens that were not declared on the product labels. Therefore, all products produced before Sept. 12, 2014, are being recalled.
The affected product, vacuum-packed plastic bags of Claude’s Beef Jerky with Red Chile, contains the establishment number “EST. 34270” inside the USDA Mark of Inspection. There have been no reports of illness or adverse reactions due to consumption of the products, FSIS said.
