MARION, Va. – Animal Welfare Approved (AWA) has added a "Certified Grassfed" label to its portfolio of food certifications.

The Certified Grassfed label guarantees food products are made using animals fed a 100 percent grass and forage diet, raised outdoors on pasture or range for their entire lives, a managed using high welfare and environmental standards in the United States and Canada.

"With independent on-farm audits to ensure compliance with our practical and achievable farm standards, the AWA Certified Grassfed program provides grassfed farm businesses with the tools they need to clearly differentiate themselves in the marketplace," said Andrew Gunther, AWA program director.
