DELPHI, Ind. – Fremont, Neb.-based Weichman Pig Company plans to build a new facility in Delphi, Ind., local news outlet, wlfi.com reported. The facility is expected to be operational by March 2016.

The company plans to take pigs rejected by larger processors, such as Indiana Packers in Delphi and Tyson Foods Inc. in Logansport, and bring those pigs to smaller markets. The Delphi facility will cover about 20 acres and cost $1.3 million to build. The company plans to hire at least 10 employees by 2020.


Weichman specializes in marketing swine of various sizes and weights. The company also has a meat and roaster sales division.
