The agency lifted the order after a collection of samples tested negative for highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI). The samples were taken within a 10-km radius of an infected backyard poultry flock in Canyon County. The agency also completed a census of poultry operations with a 3-km radius of the infected premises.
An additional requirement of the Pacific Northwest HPAI 2015 SOP mandates that 21 days must pass between a bird cull and the tests.
Several cases of H5N8 were identified in wild ducks in Gooding County, Idaho. Three falcons from a private, non-commercial flock in Canyon County, Idaho, tested positive for the H5N2 strain, and chickens in a small backyard poultry flock, also in Canyon County, tested positive for H5N2.
