The establishment, identified as 996660 Ontario Ltd., is recalling Monticello brand La Mortadella del Cuore in variable sizes. The recall is part of an ongoing foodborne illness outbreak investigation in Ontario. CFIA said there have been no confirmed illnesses associated with the Monticello brand mortadella, but the product is undergoing analysis to determine if it is linked to any illnesses.
The agency said that starting Nov. 13, 2014, the product was sold from deli counters with or without a label or coding, while some of the packages may not bear the same brand or product name.
Meanwhile, CFIA uncovered additional product information in the Lady York Foods recall investigation. The recall now encompasses all mortadella products sliced and sold from the deli counter at Lady York Foods from Dec. 2, 2014, to Feb. 24, 2015, CFIA said. Lady York recalled San Danielle Mortadella – Regular or Lean products as part of the outbreak investigation. The company said on its website that the product was distributed in Alberta, Ontario, Quebec and possibly more provinces.
Lady York Foods is a family owned specialty foods store in North York, Ontario. Meat, deli and produce are sold at the store.
