WASHINGTON – Approximately 6,082 lbs. of flap meat distributed by Viz Cattle, Irvine, Calif., is being recalled because of misbranding, the US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced. The products do not have ingredients listed on the product label; however the product does not contain undeclared allergens or ingredients of public health concern.

A routine label review uncovered the problem; an inspector noticed the product was missing an ingredient statement. No reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products have been received.


Packed in 30-lb. cardboard boxes labeled FLAP MEAT TB, these products, were produced on various dates between Feb. 19 and Feb. 26 and March 2 and March 4. Targeted product bears the shipping marks “MXLS0020” or “MXLS0014” and “TIF 120” inside the Mexican Mark of Inspection. These items were shipped for institutional use to locations in California.
