WASHINGTON – Turkey eggs in incubators on March 1 advanced 5 percent, the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) said in its Turkey Hatchery report. Eggs in incubators totaled 27.4 million on March 1, up 1 percent from the Feb. 1 total of 27.1 million eggs.

Poults hatched and net poults place were a mixed bag in February. Turkey poults hatched climbed 2 percent to 21.9 million compared to February 2014, while net poults placed for the month slipped 2 percent to 20.5 million compared to a year ago, USDA reported.


Poults hatched in February dropped 9 percent from the January total of 24.0 million poults. Net poult placements also retreated 9 percent from the January total of 22.4 million.
