Rich Vesta, president and CEO of the facility, expects the 75,000-sq.-ft. facility to process 125 cattle per day, increasing to roughly 600 head per day at the end of the first year of operations. The facility will process 800 cattle at full capacity.
The new facility is the largest plant in Canada to receive European Union approval. Scaling up the plant's operations to meet demand for beef in China is Vesta's ultimate goal, according to reports.
