SAO PAULO – Russia has imposed a ban on imported meat from 10 processing plants in Brazil, including facilities owned by JBS SA. Rosselkhoznadzor, Russia's food safety agency, announced the ban after the agency's inspectors visited the plants in March, citing “phytosanitary risks” at the facilities. The ban will begin June 9.

The Rosselkhoznadzor website shows the companies affected by the ban include: JBS SA, Marfrig Global Foods SA, Frigol SA, Frigorifico Big Boi LTDA, Mato Grosso Bovinos SA, Minerva SA, Nortao Industrial de Alimentos LTDA and Frigorifico Silva Industria e Comercio LTDA.

Russia also banned meat imports produced by BRF SA, a Brazilian pork and poultry processor.
