Brent Hladun of Calgary said he bought three packages of Maple Leaf brand bacon at a local grocery store on July 25. He said he ate a few pieces when he felt something sharp when he bit down. He said the needle stuck him in the tongue, and he pulled it out.
Hladun returned the bacon to the store for a refund. A spokesman for Maple Leaf said the company has launched an investigation into the matter. According to news reports, the company offered Hladun coupons as a gesture of good will, but he said he’s considering a lawsuit.
