OSHA said that three investigations in April, May and June uncovered preventable safety violations that caused the workers’ injuries. On April 28, a worker suffered a fractured arm after touching an unguarded machine shaft while operating a conveyor system. On May 12, a worker fell on a concrete floor while refilling a machine with an inadequate step for employee access. And on June 15, a third worker had three fingers amputated when they were caught in a blender while removing poultry from the machine.
OSHA cited Pilgrim’s on Sept. 11 for one repeat and three serious violations.
