IRVINE, Calif. – Bratwurst is on the menu at Wienerschnitzel as the company launches a new promotion to celebrate it’s “sort of” German roots. The sausages are available now through October.
The bratwursts are grilled in-house and come topped with grilled onions or mustard and sauerkraut.
“With our brand named Wienerschnitzel, we have to have some fun with our fans around this historic holiday,” said Doug Koegeboehn, CMO. “I love Oktoberfest and the best thing to eat during this annual event is a grilled Bratwurst.”
This year marks the 182nd year of Munich’s Oktoberfest, which kicks off Sept. 19 and lasts through Oct. 4. The annual celebration first began in 1810 in honor of Bavarian Crown Prince Ludwig’s marriage to Princess Therese von Sachsen-Hildburghausen, according to the Munich Oktoberfest website. The festivities originally began on Oct. 12, 1810, and ended on Oct. 17. The festival later was extended and moved forward into September, which allowed for better weather conditions.
