LEXINGTON, Ky. – Alltech has acquired the outstanding shares of Masterfeeds Inc., a leading commercial animal nutrition company based in Canada. Alltech engaged the share purchase agreement with Ag Processing Inc.
Alltech said the Masterfeeds acquisition, along with Alltech’s existing Canadian operations and its acquisition of EMF Nutrition, expands Alltech’s footprint to approximately 700 Canadian employees operating 25 feed manufacturing and premix facilities; nine retail locations and seven distribution centers. Masterfeeds also has equine and pet product lines, which Alltech may further develop with its nutritional technologies.

Alltech and Masterfeeds have identified possible growth opportunities, which may include nutritional technologies and feeding programs for antibiotic-free formulation, feed efficiency, organic minerals, algae, mycotoxin management and crop protection and performance.
Rob Flack, CEO of Masterfeeds, will continue to lead the company which will maintain its headquarters in London, Ontario. Additionally, Alltech’s own Canadian unit, Alltech Canada, remains headquartered in Guelph, Ontario, serving the entire Canadian feed industry.
