WASHINGTON – Sauk Rapids, Minn.-based Huisken Meat Company launched a recall of approximately 89,568 lbs. of beef patties on concerns the products may be contaminated by wood fragments, the Food Safety and Inspection Service of the US Dept. of Agriculture reported on Jan. 4.
The problem was discovered during production, FSIS said. The wood material was traced to an incoming ingredient. There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of the beef patties, the agency added.
The affected products are Sam’s Choice Black Angus Vidalia Onion items that were produced on various dates between Nov. 19, 2015, and Dec. 9, 2015. The products were shipped to retail locations nationwide in 2-lb. boxes containing six pieces of “Sam’s Choice Black Angus Beef Patties with 19% Vidalia Onion.” with Use By dates 05/17/2016; 05/29/2016; and 06/06/2016. The recalled items bear establishment number “EST. 394A” inside the USDA mark of inspection.
