The Carnegie Deli is now open for business again.

NEW YORK – The famous Carnegie Deli, known for sandwiches piled high with meats, recently and without warning, reopened Feb. 9, after a 10-month closure, the New York Times reported. The deli was forced to close in April 2015, after utility workers found that gas was being diverted.

An investigation by Consolidated Edison found the diversion had occurred over six years. The deli’s owner was ordered to pay $40,000 to Con Edison for gas used during that period, and the New York Dept. of Buildings imposed a fine of $2,600. The department also ordered the gas to be shut off until the pipes were repaired and inspected.
