WASHINGTON- McCain Foods USA recalled approximately 25,215 lbs. of bacon fritters that may be contaminated with extraneous plastic materials the US Dept. of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced on Feb. 12.
The problem was discovered after the firm received a consumer complaint and notified an in-plant FSIS inspector. Enclosed in the 1,681 cases were four 3.75-lb. plastic packages of “McCain EARLY RISERS Potato, Egg, Cheese & Bacon Fritters.” The batch code for these items is 1001487402.
The items were shipped to foodservice distributors in Arkansas, Florida, Iowa, Indiana, Kansas, Maine, Oklahoma, Ohio, Texas, Tennessee and Utah. The potato, egg, cheese and bacon fritters were produced on Nov. 11, 2015. The products to recall have establishment number “EST. 18846” inside the USDA mark of inspection.
Customers who bought these products should not consume them. Instead, customers should throw away the item or return to the place of purchase.
