LENOIR CITY, Tenn. – Ted Wampler Sr., co-founder of Wampler’s Farm Sausage, died April 10 at the age of 86.

Wampler and his father, Riley, started Wampler’s Wholesale Meats in 1947 and changed the name to Wampler’s Family Sausage in 1981. Under the leadership of Ted Wampler Jr., the company has seen tremendous growth with a modern facility powered entirely by sustainable energy.
Ted Wampler Sr. was chairman of the board for Wampler’s Farm Sausage and is survived by his wife of 65 years, Frances Wampler; children and spouses: Ruth Ann and Edwin R. Blackburn, Ted Jr. and Sherri Wampler, John Edd and Kathy Wampler; son-in-law, Al Hitch; foster daughter, Karen Hansen; foster son, Borce Lazarov and wife, Kristin and their sons, Constatine and Sebastian.
