NEW HOLLAND, Pa. – A spokesman for Springdale, Arkansas-based Tyson Foods Inc. said the company expects normal operations to resume at the company’s poultry processing plant in New Holland after an ammonia leak in the early hours of May 30.
“The plant was not operating at the time and there were no injuries,” Tyson spokesman Worth Sparkman said in a statement. “We’re grateful for the swift response and assistance of local emergency personnel.”
Emergency crews were called to the scene at about 1 a.m. Local news reports state that two security personnel reported to the leak. Hazmat teams stopped the leak by shutting off the supply and then ventilating the building.
