BRUSSELS – The European Commission (EC) approved a merger of Danish Crown and SPF-Denmark. Danish Crown will acquire all shares of SPF-Denmark.
The EC decided not opposed the merger because SPF-Denmark “is primarily active within the trading and transportation of piglets and breeding animals in Denmark and abroad as well as transportation of finisher pigs to slaughterhouses in Denmark. SPF Denmark A/S is not active within the production of piglets, breeding animals or finisher pigs.” Therefore, the merger would have a limited impact on markets for pork.
Danish Crown and SPF-Denmark announced the merger in May.
