Patrick Cudahy recently held the “Bakin’ Divine Bacon Desserts” recipes contest at the Wisconsin State Fair. It’s the first time Patrick Cudahy, a subsidiary of Smithfield Foods, went the way of the dessert during the annual state fair, but the company was pleased with the results.
“Patrick Cudahy Day has been a tremendous success,” said Bud Matthews, senior vice president, Patrick Cudahy. “Through our partnership with the Wisconsin State Fair, we’ve been able to offer our fans and Wisconsin neighbors one-of-a-kind experiences.”
The winner of the event was Cindy Paul who delivered a dish called “Move Over Pretzels, Here Comes Patrick Cudahy Bacon.” The winning dish featured apple-wood smoked bacon strips basted in maple syrup and drizzled with dried cranberries, crusted almonds and pretzels.
For her entry, Paul won a year’s supply of Patrick Cudahy Sweet Apple-Wood Smoked Bacon and a $250 cash prize.
“This was an excellent experience; I was just so happy to be here and certainly never expected to win the dessert recipe contest,” Paul said. “I really enjoyed being able to use my imagination when creating ‘Move Over Pretzels, Here Comes Patrick Cudahy Bacon.’”
