KANSAS CITY, Mo. – According to an official with Seaboard Foods LLC, the Shawnee Mission, Kansas-based company has purchased Texas Farm LLC, a hog-farming business based in Perryton, Texas, for an undisclosed amount.

In documents filed by Nipponham Foods Ltd., the Osaka, Japan-based parent company of Texas Farm, the sale includes live hogs, grain and feed, land and buildings. According to the documents, the reasons for selling the company included “multiple points of view, such as future prospects and asset efficiency.”

Texas Farm is estimated to currently have 25,000 sows in production.
