WASHINGTON – The US Dept. of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced a recall of 237,891 lbs. of pork barbecue products from Fayetteville, North Carolina-based Morty Pride Meats Inc. The products, which were recalled due to misbranding and undeclared allergens, were produced with Worcestershire sauce that contains soy, which was not declared on the finished product label.
The misbranding issue was discovered by FSIS during a label verification inspection on Nov. 16. The pork barbecue items were produced and packaged from Nov. 15, 2014, through Nov. 11, 2016. The following products are subject to recall:
- 5-lb. of vacuum sealed bags of “Morty Pride Pork Barbeque, Electronically Cooked.”
- 12-oz of plastic cups of “Morty Pride Premium Pork Barbeque, Electronically Cooked.”
The products subject to recall bear establishment number “EST. 6668” inside the USDA mark of inspection. These items were shipped to locations in North Carolina and South Carolina.
No reports of illness, injury or adverse reactions have been reported related to consumption of the products.
