An American Yorkshire pig named Bacon still got served after he escaped from his handlers in Daytona Beach, Florida, The Daytona Beach News-Journal reported.
Bacon was being raised by students participating in the New Smyrna Beach Middle School’s Future Farmers of America (FFA) program until he got too big for the school’s cages. Thomas Armitage, whose son is an FFA participant, put Bacon in a backyard pen; and the pig eventually topped out at 250 lbs.
On the day of slaughter, Armitage loaded Bacon into a pen reinforced with chain link and chicken wire for the trip to a Seville, Florida, slaughter facility. But along the way, Bacon escaped. Read more to find out how the story ended.
