Garner, N.C. – Butterball has announced the promotion of Jay Jandrain to the role of COO, overseeing manufacturing of plants, plant operations, supply chain, purchasing, engineering, and research and development and will be responsible for all operational issues.  Jandrain replaces Joe Nalley, who is retiring after leading the company’s operations for 10 years. Al Jansen will replace Jandrain as executive vice president of sales.

Jandrain joined Butterball in April 2002 as the director of R&D. In his previous role as executive vice president of sales, he was responsible for foodservice, retail and export channels as well as product research and development, customer service and integrated business strategy. 


Jandrain holds a bachelor’s degree in food science from Cornell Univ. 

As the new executive vice president of sales, Jansen will assume responsibility for all sales channels and customer service. During his tenure at Butterball, Jansen has served as vice president of integrated business strategy and senior vice president of retail sales. He was also driving force behind Butterball’s tray pack expansion and Farm to Family launch. Prior to his roles at Butterball, Jansen was employed by Perdue Farms for 18 years.

Jansen received a bachelor’s degree in economics from the Univ. of Maryland and an MBA from the Univ. of Baltimore.
