SAO PAULO, Brazil – Former US Rep. John Boehner, the 53rd Speaker of the US House of Representatives, was appointed to the board of JBS Foods International (JBSFI), a subsidiary of Sao Paulo, Brazil-based JBS SA. He is one of four independent board members selected by the company.
Boehner retired from Congress in October 2015. He is currently a senior strategic advisor at Squire Patton Boggs, a global law and public policy firm. He also serves as a member of the board of directors of Reynolds American.
Other independent board members include:
• Greg Heckman, a founding partner of Flatwater Partners LLC, a private investment company. Heckman is the former president and CEO of The Gavilon Group, where he directed the carve-out of the company from ConAgra Foods in 2008;
• Charles Macaluso, a principal at Dorchester Capital Advisors LLC, a management consulting and corporate advisory service firm. He also serves on the boards of Darling Ingredients Inc. Pilgrim’s Pride Corp., and Global Equipment Power Group;
• Steven Mills, a consultant and advisor to clients in the private equity, agribusiness, renewable products and financial services fields. Mills is currently a board member of Black Hills Corp., a vertically-integrated energy company, where he chairs the audit committee. He also serves on the boards of Farmers Edge, Inc., Big Red Group Holdings LLC, Hickory Point Bank & Trust; and
• Dimitri Panayotopoulos, former vice chairman and advisor to the chairman and CEO of Procter & Gamble. Panayotopoulos currently serves on the board of directors of British American Tobacco Co. and Logitech International SA. He also serves as a senior advisor at the Boston Consulting Group, a global management consulting firm.
The independent directors will serve on the JBS Foods International board of directors only after the company’s listing on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE).
