GUELPH, Ontario – The provincial government of Ontario is investing C$582,000 toward the installation of new processing technology at a Cargill beef plant in Guelph.
The investment is part of the company’s $3.5 million expansion of the plant, which will feature technology that converts raw byproducts into protein-rich animal feed ingredients.
“This new installation is an example of Cargill’s commitment to nourish people, animals and the planet in a sustainable way,” said Matt Gibney, general manager of the Guelph beef processing plant. “We are reducing our environmental footprint as a result of fewer emissions from transportation, retaining jobs in Guelph and improving efficiencies in Ontario’s beef supply chain. We greatly appreciate the commitment the province has shown in this investment partnership.”
