OTTAWA, Ontario – JD Sweid Foods Ltd. of Langley, British Columbia, recalled its Hampton House brand chicken strips due to an error on the preparation instructions on the product label, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) reported.
CFIA said the oven preparation instructions should read: “Preheat to 204°C (400°F).” The chicken strips may contain harmful bacteria that may cause illness if the product isn’t properly cooked. CFIA noted there have been no reported illnesses associated with consumption of the chicken strips.
The affected products include Hampton House chicken strips in 1.5-kg. packages with Best Before dates from Jan. 20, 2018, up to and including Feb. 11, 2018, and UPC of 0 66123 54381 7.
JD Sweid triggered the recall, CFIA said. The agency is conducting a food safety investigation and verifying that retailers are removing affected product from the marketplace.
JD Sweid is a privately owned company that processes and sells meat and poultry products to grocery, quick-service restaurants, club stores and foodservice operations in Canada. The company also produces private label food products retail and restaurants.
