BOSTON – Verde Farms, producer of grass-fed and free-range beef, has acquired Estancia Beef, the import division of Petaluma, California-based El Raigon Natural Beef Co. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Estancia grass-fed Angus and Hereford beef is raised on sustainable family owned farms in the Pampas region of Uruguay. The beef contains no hormones or growth-promotion antibiotics.
“Verde Farms and Estancia Beef have collaborated over the years as mission-driven companies with aligned values on sustainability and humane raising principles,” said Dana Ehrlich, founder and CEO of Verde Farms. “As consumer demand for grass-fed beef continues to explode, this acquisition allows us to satisfy that demand with 100 percent grass-fed beef that meets our values and high standards.”
Founded in 2005, Verde Farms has annual revenues of more than $50 million, the company said. All farms in the Verde Farms network raise free range, grass-fed beef that is never subjected to added growth hormones. Additionally, Verde Farms’ 100 percent Grass-Fed Never Ever, Organic and Reserve product lines are never given antibiotics.
El Raigon Natural Beef will continue to operate its domestic grass-fed beef production division, Pasture One, which is a joint venture with Arkansas City, Kansas-based Creekstone Farms.
