KANSAS CITY, Mo. – During the month of May, meat and poultry companies in the US and Canada issued 14 recalls of products and issued one public health alert. More than 1.06 million lbs. of products were recalled during the month resulting from a variety of food safety issues, ranging from undeclared allergens to water contamination to Listeria monocytogenes or E. coli contamination to the presence of extraneous material in products.
