More than meat snacks and seeds
Conagra Brands’ snacking strategy spans beyond meat snacks and seeds. The company’s portfolio also includes such brands as Orville Redenbacher’s and Jiffy Pop popcorn, Snack Pack pudding and Swiss Miss cocoa.
“We are absolutely from a Conagra perspective approaching snacks as a total priority,” Beane said. “There will be news coming on our popcorn brands and sweet snacks brands.”
Driving snacking innovation at the company are three pillars — convenience, flavor and nutrition.
“We know that consumers are much more willing to make an indulgent choice later in the day if they feel good about the choices they made earlier in the day. And the reverse is true. It’s more about the overall eating and thinking about what you’re consuming as a total package.”
Havlick added, “What consumers are telling us more than anything is they want transparency in terms of label, they want to understand more and more where the food is coming from, even how it’s made. You start to see that reflected in the portfolio, and I think you’ll see it reflected more and more.”
