The product may be contaminated by E.coli O157:H7, CFIA said.
Test results triggered the recall, the agency said, but there have been no reported illnesses associated with consumption of the product.
The veal was sold in Food Basics supermarkets in Ontario in variable sizes and marked with best before date 2017NO04 with a UPC starting with 0 2268111. CFIA is verifying that the affected product has been removed from the marketplace.
CFIA said food contaminated with E. coli O157:H7 may not look or smell spoiled, so the agency is urging consumers to discard or return recalled products. Symptoms of infection can include nausea, vomiting, mild to severe abdominal cramps and watery to bloody diarrhea. In more severe cases infection can result in strokes, permanent kidney damage or death.
