"This effective training program will help employers understand and comply with federal law."
"This industry-developed training program provides a basic level of understanding about the I-9 process and shows a good faith effort by the poultry industry to comply with the immigration laws," said John Starkey, president of the US Poultry & Egg Association.
"Employers who use and follow this I-9 training program will reduce the risk of fines and criminal prosecution," added attorney Jim Wimberly, of Wimberly, Lawson, Steckel, Schneider & Stine, P.C.
The program was developed by the Joint Industry Human Resources Council, comprised of human resource professionals from member companies of USPOULTRY, the National Chicken Council and National Turkey Federation, along with attorneys from Wimberly, Lawson, Steckel, Schneider & Stine P.C.
