The investigation on the Dec. 14 fire is still open.
 
MOCKSVILLE, N.C. – Three weeks after the Dec. 14 fire that shut down a House of Raeford chicken processing plant in North Carolina, the company and local authorities are keeping the investigation open on what caused the incident.

“Because the investigation is ongoing, the company does not yet know when the plant will re-open,” House of Raeford said in a statement. 

According to local news reports on Dec. 14, a hazmat team was deployed to clean up a chemical leak at the plant

No injuries were reported at the time of the fire. Thirty people were working in the plant. The plant will remain closed until further notice.

The company stated they would continue to pay employees their normal wage until a new update is issued.
