ARLINGTON, Va. — Peter Matz has joined the Food Marketing Institute as director of food and health policy. In his new role Matz will be responsible for leading issue development and advocacy efforts in the food and health legislative areas on the government relations team.

Matz has a diverse background in legislative and regulatory strategy and has spent the past decade at OFW Law as a government relations adviser, where he guided regulatory affairs and legislative strategies for companies and trade associations across the food, beverage and agriculture sectors. Earlier, he was a marketing coordinator with P2F Holdings.

“Peter is an accomplished, versatile public policy and communications expert whose passion for food and nutrition complements his track record for consensus-building on Capitol Hill,” said Jennifer Hatcher, chief public policy officer and senior vice president of government relations at the FMI.

Matz received a bachelor’s degree in political science and sociology from Emory Univ. in Atlanta.
