DES MOINES – The Iowa Economic Development Authority (IEDA) board approved direct financial assistance and tax incentives for a plant expansion project at Sioux-Preme Packing Co. Inc.
Sioux-Preme Packing plans to add 50,000 sq. ft. to the company’s pork processing plant in Sioux County. The project will include the installation of automated pork cutting equipment and water jet cutting technologies. The company said the expansion will support demand for Sioux-Preme specialty pork products.
The IEDA said the project represents an investment of $29 million by Sioux-Preme Packing and will create 50 new jobs. Sioux-Preme was awarded tax incentives from the High Quality Jobs Program, and 10 of the proposed new jobs are incented at a qualifying wage of $20.41 per hour.
Perdue Farms acquired the facility in 2015 as part of its acquisition of Natural Food Holdings and its brands.
