KANSAS CITY — Steak is sizzling on menus.
Grilled steak is the star of Sonic’s new Footlong Philly sandwiches. The classic variety features grilled steak and onions topped with melted cheese sauce in a footlong bun, while the spicy variety adds sliced jalapeños and a zesty Baja sauce.
“The classic combination of grilled steak, melted cheese and savory onions creates an undeniably satisfying meal — one that leaves you licking your fingers to capture every savory bite,” said Scott Uehlein, vice president of product innovation and development for Sonic. “Bringing this iconic flavor to our famous bun allows our guests to take their taste buds on a trip, and if they want to turn up the heat, the Spicy Philly is a perfect choice.”
Steak steps into the spotlight again in Subway’s new Chipotle Cheesesteak sandwich. Served on new Sunflower Crunch bread, the sandwich features steak, shredded Monterey cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, green peppers, red onions, jalapeños and a smoky chipotle Southwest sauce.
Jack in the Box is launching two new steak-centric menu items. The Blue Cheese & Bacon Ribeye Burger features a 100 percent ribeye beef patty, blue cheese and hickory-smoked bacon on a potato bun. The new Steak & Egg Breakfast Burrito is loaded with prime rib steak, scrambled eggs, crispy hash browns and melted cheese wrapped in a warm flour tortilla.
