TUCKER, Ga. – US Poultry & Egg Association (USPOULTRY) plans to host a Poultry Handling and Transportation Workshop on Dec. 7 at the Univ. of Georgia Livestock Instructional Arena in Athens, Georgia.
The “Train the Trainer” program helps individuals certify for poultry handling and become transportation certified trainers.
The workshop was developed by poultry scientists and veterinarians from Pennsylvania State Univ., the US Dept. of Agriculture and transportation industry professionals.
“The training gives companies and contract crews and their employees an understanding of poultry welfare, good management practices, biosecurity and emergency planning,” the USPOULRY release said. “Attendees will also develop tools to train non-English speaking (primarily Spanish) employees.”
The workshop is limited to 40 people, and the cost is $150 for USPOULTRY members and $300 for non-members. Anyone interested can find out more at www.uspoultryhandling.org.
