During October, turkey poults hatched in the US totaled 22.1 million, up slightly from October 2009. Poults hatched were down slightly from the September 2010 total of 22.1 million poults. Regional changes from the previous year were: East North Central, up 7%; West North Central, down 2%; North and South Atlantic, down 2%, and South Central and West, up 3%.
The 21.2 million net poults placed during October 2010 in the US were down slightly from the number placed during the same month a year earlier. Net placements were down 2% from the September 2010 total of 21.7 million.
