CANTON, MASS. — John Varughese has been promoted to senior vice president of international at Dunkin’ Brands Group, Inc. In his new role he will be responsible for all aspects of Baskin-Robbins and Dunkin’ business units outside the United States.
Varughese succeeds Nigel Travis, who has served as interim head of international for the past nine months. Travis will continue as chairman of the board of directors.
Varughese has been with Dunkin’ Brands for the past 16 years, most recently as vice-president of international. Prior to Dunkin’ Brands, he spent seven years with the Galadari Ice Cream Co. in the Middle East, which is one of the largest Baskin-Robbins international licensees. He began his career in international sales with Smith Kline Beecham Consumer Brands.
“John is a seasoned international retail executive with a deep understanding of both the Baskin-Robbins and Dunkin’ brands and the countries we serve,” said David L. Hoffmann, chief executive officer of Dunkin’ Brands and president of Dunkin’ US. “His appointment as the head of our international business enables us to seamlessly continue our support of franchisees and licensees and strategically grow our two brands outside the US.”
Varughese received a bachelor’s degree in commerce, a master’s degree in commerce and a master’s degree in marketing.
