MONTREAL – Foodtastic Inc., a franchisor of restaurant concepts in the province of Quebec, recently acquired Les Rotisseries Au Coq, a chain of restaurants that specialize in delivery and carryout of rotisserie-style chicken.
Terms of the transaction were not disclosed, but Foodtastic noted that Au Coq is the second of several expected acquisitions financed by a C$47 million investment in Foodtastic.
“Au Coq is a treasured local brand and we are excited to welcome Au Coq into the Foodtastic family,” said Peter Mammas, president and CEO of Foodtastic. “We look forward to preserving Au Coq’s strong heritage, while growing the brand across the region.
“This acquisition of a homegrown Quebec business is consistent with our strategy of acquiring quality brands with growth potential that complement our existing brand portfolio,” Mammas added. “We believe the Au Coq acquisition will leverage our marketing, purchasing and operational systems to better serve our existing franchisees.”
Foodtastic is the franchisor of La Belle et La Boeuf, Monza, Carlos & Pepe’s, Souvlaki Bar, Nickels and Bacaro. The company reported C$110 million in annualized sales.
