KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Bowls are big on menus. The familiar format is the focus of restaurant innovation, including better-for-you bowls, breakfast bowls and even bowls made of bread.
Panera Bread is doubling down on the success of its Bread Bowl with the new Double Bread Bowl, now available nationwide. The menu item, which Panera tested in Philadelphia last year, features two holes carves into one loaf of bread that may be filled with any two Panera soups.
“Since the test launch, we’ve seen an overwhelming response on social media from fans asking, ‘When will Double Bread Bowls come to my city?’ We’re excited to answer that demand and spread the bread to guests nationwide,” said Tom Sadler, vice president of food and beverage product development at Panera. “The Double Bread Bowl encourages our guests to take their favorite soups to the next level and share an unforgettable meal with a friend or loved one.”
Moe’s Southwest Grill’s new bowl features a better-for-you bent. The Quinoa Power Bowl features white meat chicken breast, shredded romaine lettuce, corn pico, guacamole, cilantro, queso fresco and a blend of quinoa, brown rice, sweet potato and zucchini.
“Our new Quinoa Power Bowl combines big southwest flavor with more health-forward ingredients,” said Ciarán Duffy, executive chef for Moe’s. “The best part about the new bowl is that you can completely customize your experience according to your lifestyle — fans can go all plant-based by adding tofu or indulge by adding our famous queso.”
Corner Bakery Cafe is focused on the morning meal with the launch of its new breakfast bowls.
